OCCUPY PARLIAMENT RELOADED TO START SHORTLY AT OUTSIDE PARLIAMENT BUILDING PARLIAMENT

FIFTEEN civil society organisations from the Coast will leave for Nairobi today morning for the second 'Occupy Parliament' protest tomorrow. The first protest last month saw human rights activists take pigs to Parliament to symbolise MPs greed.
Muslims for Human Rights executive director Hussein Khalid, who will lead the delegation of 50 people, yesterday said they will launch a campaign to collect a million signatures to amend the constitution so that the legislators can be recalled from Parliament.
"Article 104 of the constitution gives Kenyans power to recall their MPs. The mistake we did is we gave the MPs powers to legislate how to recall an MP. They set it so that an MP can only be recalled after two years of service. We want this to be change so that they can be recalled immediately," Khalid said.
He said some MPs who are against their colleagues' behaviour over salaries have shown interest in the protest and will participate.

Speaking to the Star on phone, Khalid and Muhuri rapid response officer Francis Auma said the legislators in the 11th Parliament will run down the country with their greed.
MPs and county representatives are at loggerheads with CSOs and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission over their reduced salaries.
